First Swimming Lesson & More!

Hello Friends! Today was a very special and exciting day for me! First of all, I turned 7 months old! Horray!!! Before you know it, I will be 1 year old...the countdown is on! Mommy told me I could have an ice cream cake and fireworks, so I just can't wait!

Anyway, my other big event was that Daddy took me to my first swimming lesson today! I loved it! No, really, I LOOOOOOOOVED IT! It was so much fun splashing around and making some new friends...Daddy and I did all sorts of activities, like singing and blowing bubbles. Daddy even had to dunk me under...but I was a champ and did not even cry! I just wanted more! I can't wait to go back. Daddy says I am his little Shark!

I also took the opportunity to give Mommy and Daddy a big surprise. As many of you know, I love to do crunches and with a little help, can go from a lying position to sitting (if someone holds my feet)...Well, I had been practicing really hard and today I went from a lying on my back position to sitting - all by myself! Then, I outdid myself in the afternoon by doing the same trick in my crib, but this time I pulled myself to a standing position! Can you believe it! I told you my crunches would pay off! And, if that wasn't enough...i can put my spoon in my mouth all by myself! I must say, that's a lot of stuff in one week!

Be Careful!

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say that I have been GREAT! I've been doing lots of fun stuff with Hope and even got to take some walks outside this week! Thank goodness...I was getting tired of being inside all day. I also got to go to my first My Gym class - it was so much fun and I can't wait to go back. There were slides, trampolines and tons of swings...it's my new favorite hang out!

Anyway, another important update is that Mommy decided to switch all of my bottles from Avent brand to Born Free. The reason is because of a chemical called Bisphenol A. As Mommy explained it to me, Bisphenol A is bad stuff, and I should not be exposed...Here is an article that she wants to share with all of you to make sure you are looking out for your babies too!

From Safemama.com:
Bisphenol A is a hormone-mimicking chemical used in polycarbonate plastics and resins commonly used for items such as shatterproof baby bottles. Bisphenol has estrogenic properties which, in animal tests has shown to cause a bevy of health problems such as an increase in prostate and breast cancer, uro-genital abnormalities in male babies, a decline in semen quality in men, early onset of puberty in girls, metabolic disorders including insulin-resistant (Type 2) diabetes and obesity and neuro-behavioral problems such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Research is showing that when plastic containers, mostly those used to hold liquids and foods, are leeching Bisphenol into the foods and liquids they are holding. Heating food and liquids with these plastics is shown to increase the leeching of this contaminate. Many companies use this chemical in their packaging including cans, soda cans, and plastic food containers. There is a risk of absorbing this chemical through the use of containing foods and liquids but can also leech into our water systems through landfills. To learn more and to find out which baby bottles are BPA free, please visit www.safemama.com. You'll find all the latest info on BPA, recalls and other safety topics. Enjoy!
